How Custom Fit® Orthotics Work

Being on your feet all day can cause aches and pains in your feet and lower body. This is caused by the shock of your feet hitting the ground, which can travel up your leg with every step you take. And if your feet aren’t properly supported, movement can cause stress and strain.

Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Orthotic Inserts can help! Each insole has three layers that provide support for your feet where they need it most and keep pain-inducing shock and stress from traveling up the body. Explore the Anatomy of an Insert tab to learn how each layer works.

STEP 1

Remove your shoe’s current insoles; replace with custom insert, fabric side up. In the rare case that the insert needs to be trimmed, use the existing insole as a guide, tracing its outline on the bottom of the new insert.

Slide your Custom Fit® ¾ length insert into your shoe, fabric side up.

STEP 2

Put the insert marked Left and Right in the appropriate shoe.

STEP 3

Place the heel cushion of the insert against the back of each shoe.

STEP 4

We recommend replacing your Custom Fit® Orthotics every 6-12 months or at the first signs of wear. If your feet are a little snug in the first couple days of wearing your new inserts, this is normal. Please allow up to 1 week for your feet to adapt to the use of the new inserts in your shoes. They are full length so it’s important that you remove the insoles that are currently in the shoe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find a Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Kiosk?

To find a Kiosk near you, please visit our Kiosk Locator page.

What is the difference between each of the 14 Dr. Scholl’s® Custom Fit® Orthotics?

The Footmapping® technology in our Kiosks assesses multiple parameters of your feet – including your arch type, foot pressure, foot size, and weight – in order to recommend the Custom Fit® Number that’s right for you. Your recommended Custom Fit® Orthotics have a customized cushioning layer to disperse your foot pressure and a customized support system designed for your arch type and placed optimally for your foot size.

The kiosk gave me recommendations for different Custom Fit® Orthotics. Which one should I buy?

In order to get an accurate scan, please remember to keep your feet in the footprint areas and flat during the scans. When you lean forward, your hips should be in front of your feet. If you are following the foot scanning directions correctly and are still getting different recommendations, it is possible that your feet characteristics are in between two Custom Fit® Numbers (for example, you might get a measurement of CF120 and CF220). Both products would be suitable solutions for you. If you get a different 2nd measurement, we recommend going through the analysis a 3rd time and getting the Custom Fit® number which was recommended 2 out of 3 times.

How long does it take to get a Custom Fit Orthotics recommendation on the Kiosk?

It can take as little as 90 seconds to receive your customized recommendation.

Will all users receive a recommendation from the kiosk?

Nearly all consumers will get a recommendation from the kiosk. The product was designed to meet 97% of adult needs.

Can anyone use the Custom Fit® Kiosk?

Any adult who weighs between 70 lbs. and 400 lbs. can use the kiosk; although, it is not recommended for children. The maximum weight limit to use the kiosk is 400 lbs.

What type of shoe does Custom Fit® Orthotics fit in?

The inserts are designed to fit many shoes (sneakers, casual shoes, work shoes), but they may be too thick or wide to fit in snug-fitting shoes as they are built with substantial arch support and ample cushioning for pain relief and comfort.

How long do Custom Fit® Orthotics last? How often should I replace them?

Custom Fit® Orthotics are made with highly durable materials. Under normal use, we expect the Orthotics to last from 6 months to a year. If you use the inserts frequently, we recommend replacing them every six months or at the first signs of wear.

Can I replace my old Custom Fit® Orthotic with the same number?

We recommend taking the assessment again to receive your current Custom Fit® recommendation. Your fit can change over time with changes in age and weight.

How do I place Custom Fit® Orthotics in my shoes? Should I remove my shoe insoles first?

Step 1. Slide the inserts on top of your shoes’ insoles, fabric side up. No trimming required.
Step 2. Put the insert marked “LEFT” and “RIGHT” (see bottom of insert) in the appropriate shoe.
Step 3. Place the heel cushion of the insert against the back of each shoe.

Do Dr. Scholl’s Custom Fit® Orthotics have an adhesive to stick inside the shoe?

No, these do not have an adhesive and are designed to stay in place without an adhesive. They can be switched between different pairs of shoes.

Can I get a refund if I am not satisfied with my purchase?

Our Custom Fit® Orthotics are backed with a 90-day Money Back Guarantee. Please see our Money Back Guarantee page for details.
